Most of us have a box, closet, drawer or maybe even a half garage full of random pieces of training equipment, clothing, shoes and other gear. You may use it all, but it is more likely to be a combination of everyday items, race specials, retired pieces, and enthusiastic purchases that have never been used. While many of us are spending more time at home and the summer is hot, this is a good time to clean up our athletic gear for a fresh and vibrant resume in the spring.

# 1. Preparation
First, take a good look at it. Before you start, put some sticky notes and a pen, some boxes or cans, some music and fill the water bottle. This work will require some discipline, organization and motivation. And hydration never hurts. Then, dig and go.
# 2. Ask How Often It Is Used
Placing items in piles depends on how often they are used and what they use. With athletics, there are some things that can only be used twice a year (such as a race number belt) but your athletic goals are still important when you have something but a Not used in years (shirt with that T-hole). Just because you use something often doesn't necessarily mean you should keep it, but it will start to accumulate massively.
# 3. Guess What
There may be a motorcycle that you no longer use, but it is nowhere to be found. If you have space, grab these items because they can make big changes when needed. Other items such as race t-shirts and medals have emotional value that should be considered. Think about the memory and if it was a big moment, grab the physical evidence, if not, say goodbye! Use your sticky notes here to put values on things you are not sure about. Some may be able to sell while others may be donated or even tossed.
# 4. Ask If Replacing It Will Help
It's not just about tossing things, it's about creating a combination that enhances your athletic goals. If you have such items, even if they are used frequently, they are old models, heavy, torn or of poor quality, replacing your performance with improved and modern versions is for you. That could be a huge boost. Keep sticky notes on these items and then do some research to find out if you can replace them and how to replace them.
# 5. Update It
Before removing things, renew your old gear! Give the clothes a fresh wash, wipe off the dust gear, make notes of things that might be useful if a small part has been changed and then arrange it in such a way that the screams go!
# 6. Matters With the Rest
You haven't worked yet. It's not enough to get out of gear, you really have to let it go. Take the time to find a good home for slow used items. Clothes or shoes that are in good condition that do not fit your body or needs can be valuable to others. Contact your local fitness shop or youth group to find out if they have a donation. Yarn items or race medals can be reused with recycling programs. Consult Google to see if your item can be reproduced. Any money-making gear should be immediately listed for sale on the platform of your choice with photography. The rest, well, grab this trash bag!
